Guardianships & Conservatorships

Effective January 1, 2022, Washington State has adopted a new uniform guardianship law.  The new law involves significant changes to the previous guardianship laws and reporting requirements for appointed guardians. It can be helpful for clients to have experienced counsel to help them navigate through this newly enacted legal framework and provide legal representation.

A minor guardianship is a proceeding to authorize someone to take care of a child who is not their own.  If the guardian is appointed by the court, the guardian is given the same rights as a parent generally would have.  Minor Guardianships last until the minor turns 18.
